Home to School

Home to school transport arrangements can be made by…

  • Schools
  • Local authority (library boards in Northern Ireland)
  • A group of parents

Students must be provided with a ‘safe journey’. This means that transport must be suitable for the students using it and that all reasonable measures are taken to protect students from harm. This will require…

  • Risk assessed routes and pick up/drop off points.
  • Where safety belts are provided, that they are suitable for the age group that will be wearing them.
  • Child seats or booster seats to be used correctly and safely in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Measures to ensure that no pupil is subjected to anxiety, fear, stress or bullying whilst in transit.

Monitoring the service for regulation and contractual compliance.
