Good practice

Good practice when making transport arrangements

It is good practice to…

  • Provide parents/carers and students with a safety belt policy document requiring compulsory wearing of belts where they are fitted.
  • Ensure adequate safety training is provided to all students once a year on how to keep safe in transit to include how to evacuate a vehicle safely and what to do once outside the vehicle.
  • Have a written contract between parents/carers, transport companies and the party making the transport arrangements.
  • Provide a rule book to all school transport stake holders with a signed declaration to evidence acceptance of the rules.
